Basic Information

Think of the smallest object you have seen. A sand particle, a mustard seed, some dust particle, or anything else that is very small. What happens if you use a microscope and a very tiny knife and cut it into two halves? You will get a smaller sand particle, a smaller mustard seed, etc. What if you cut the smaller particle again? You will get an even smaller particle.

Can you keep doing this? Obviously, at some point, the microscope/knife may not be good enough to cut anymore. But, if you think about it conceptually, what happens if you keep splitting an object into smaller and smaller pieces? We will discover the answer to this exciting question in this Chapter!
