Our Land, Our Life

Environmental education in the form of text book with the title ‘Our land, Our life’ has been included in school curriculum in Uttrakhand. This curriculum is based on three main principles of village ecosystem, sustainability and carrying capacity. Through this discovery method of learning teacher, children and community all learn from each other. This process has led the teachers and children to construct their own knowledge. Teachers have also started showing more interest in teaching-learning process. They have taken the role of effector. Along with discovery method they have also initiated experimental learning. The whole process has not only changed their belief and attitude but also has generated a new level of confidence in them.
