Art of doing Maths

A review of Paul Lockhart's book - A Mathematician's lament.

For last decade or so this 25-page booklet (later turned into a book) is questioning the way mathematics is taught at (middle) school. A tongue-in-cheek satire, partly depressing & mostly introspecting...unburdens the imaginative math teacher (nay, a pattern finder) in you.
The author has a simple agenda.
"I want them (the children) to understand that there is a playground in their minds and that is where mathematics happens."
Rediscover the art of doing maths. A must-read for all the stakeholders in learning, not just the math teachers.
