How good are you in following instructions? Play this simple game of listening, understanding & acting on a given instruction.

Activity Steps: 

 

Ask the students to get ready with a pencil and a sheet of paper. Tell the class that you would give a series of simple instructions. Ask them to follow your directions. Ask them to pay absolute attention. Read out each instruction ONCE & ONLY ONCE, wait for 5 to 10 seconds and read next.

1. Draw a circle at the centre of the paper.

2. Draw a square at the top right hand corner of the page.

3. Draw a triangle pointed downwards in the bottom right hand corner of the sheet

4. Inside that triangle draw a circle.

5. Draw a triangle pointed upwards at the top left hand corner of the sheet.

6. Inside that triangle draw a circle.

7. Draw a square at the bottom left hand corner of the sheet.

8. Inside that square draw a triangle pointed upwards

9. Draw a circle inside the circle at the centre of the paper.

10. Draw another circle inside the second circle drawn.

11. Now draw a triangle inside it.

12. Between the triangle and the square at the top of the sheet draw a rectangle.

13. Inside the rectangle draw another rectangle.

14. Inside the second rectangle drawn draw another rectangle.

15. Between the square and the triangle at the bottom of the sheet draw a square.

16. Inside the square draw another square.

17. Inside the second square draw a triangle.

18. Inside the triangle drawn draw a circle.

19. Draw a straight line connecting the triangle and the square on the left hand side of the sheet

20. Draw a straight line connecting the square and the triangle on the right hand side of the sheet

Depending upon the available time you can give more or less instructions. Now ask the students to compare their work with that of the others in the class. Are all the sheets the same?
