This activity is very helpful for teaching adjectives and adverbs and is recommended when you need to raise the attention levels of your learners.

Activity Steps: 

  • Write a word on the board.
  • Pick up a student at random and ask the student to add a word before or after the written word that will make sense. You may take the help of a student to write the words in the blackboard. (Picking a student randomly has many advantages. It keeps them on their toes & multiple stories can emerge. Peer correction could also be witnessed.)
  • Then ask another student to add another word before or after the words so as to make sense if the form of a phrase.
  • Continue asking students to add one word either before or after the words written to make a complete sentence.
  • The game ends when it would not be possible to form a longer meaningful sentence.
  • Remember that words can be used only before or after the words already written, not in between.
